Since 1950, in partnership with the community, San Diego Blood Bank (SDBB) has proudly served Southern California hospitals with blood products for patients of all ages, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds struggling with life-threatening medical conditions. 

Safe and efficient blood collection, processing, and distribution requires state-of-the-art equipment and supplies. Your financial gift directly impacts patient lives by funding critical resources — including a new bloodmobile needed this year — to ensure blood products are available to save local lives. Blood gives patients hope for more time with loved ones.

Your gift will go to work immediately to impact local lives.

• $15 per month/$0.50 cents a day helps fund three whole blood donations that can save up to nine lives each year.
• $60 helps fund supplies for one lifesaving blood transfusion.
• $100 funds blood bags to collect red blood cells and plasma to distribute to our hospital partners.
• $250 provides four plasma kits to help heal patients who need plasma units to fight infection.
• $500 funds blood bags and supplies to collect eight pints of blood on a bloodmobile, impacting up to 24 lives like Ella (pictured right), who requires regular blood transfusions to treat beta thalassemia.
• $1,000 fund seven plateletpheresis kits to treat cancer patients during chemotherapy.
